Hey all.
I had a friend recommend this forum to me. I have never been on a bike before. But I know that I want one. So I am looking for a good starter bike, I would like to keep it a 2000 or newer and would like to spent $4k or less. I would prefer a GSXR or a CBR. but if you could recommend something or know of anyone that could help me find just the right bike for me I would be very greatful.
Thanks in advance.

if its your first bike i wouldnt go with those you mentioned, id go with a less powerfull bike to start out on. like a sv650, or gs 500, or ninja 500, or ninja 650r those would be a much better bike to learn on than a racer replica.

What kind of bike is it? Whats he asking? Like I said I'm in the market... It might be sooner or it might be later but I'm hoping for the sooner.

My 954 is on the block for $3500 firm. That is by far a starter bike. If you don't know what you're doing it WILL bite back. It's the bike in my avatar to the left...

Thats the reason that I want a 600 sport bike... Ill take it easy while I learn and then when I get comfortable I can open it up a bit... Plus I have heard that there are a few places or people that will teach me how to ride before I even get my bike... Any takers? ;)

we can help ya, with the learning part. i was just thinking (yea i know i shouldnt do that) but the best way ive seen to learn to ride is on a dirt bike, but not everybody has a chance to do that. i know that sv 650 has a huge amount of upgrades that can be done to it to make it faster and handle better. they are a track favorite in the light weight class because of this. you can bolt on alot of gsxr stuff on those bikes. yea it might not be as fast as other bikes in a straight line, but thats no biggie as you dont have to have the biggest bike to be the fastest bike. ive alot of racers on sv 650 that could smoke all of us here on the track. just think it over a bit, but alot of guys do start on the 600's

Ive heard some good things about those 650s but I also like the aggressive look and feel of the GSXR... I know that can be kinda stupid but hey if Im going to spend the dough I want what I want... But maybe if I get out and see'em in action I'll think different... And anytime you want to get out and teach me how to ride you let me know... I dont know a whole lot of people with bikes... Atleast I havent, thats why I havent really persued getting one very hard... But with Jay introduceing me to everybody at the party and on here I'm excited to get going with it all.

to tell the truth you shouldnt get one, because they are a drug, one that is the most addicting thing ever known. ive been hooked for 23 years and i can stop hehe stop now turn back dont do it, they constantly suck money from you, so that you can do more with them, they will cause you tickets hehe, and yes you will crash, its not if its when. make sure once you get your bike gear up the more the better. other than that the most important thing is have fun.
