It can be done with an external enclosure and Ghost...not for the faint of heart.

you planning on installing it via cd? Or cloning the entire drive? If your just going to install it, and it already is 'legit'. All you need to do is activate it. It may require a phone call, but I doubt it.

You can make a restore CD from the partition.... If the drive still runs just look throught the start menu... or maybe some help from Berzerk....

hehe, us "Geeks"

We both work for Geek Squad with best buy in Holland.

Anyhow, if you can create the recovery disks, the serial is usually on the bottom of the notebook (or back of desktop) It's going to be a green/white sticker with the microsoft logo on it. Use that when it installs if it asks for it. It probably will not since it's oem software.

Does the system boot up? If not you'll be a little screwed. Which means you'll need to either A) order some disks from manufacturer or B) "borrow" a copy from someone who has them....'cough cough, me cough'

If you don't have them, you'll lose all the software that came preloaded and will have to install any hardware video/sound/ethernet seperately (some of it windows will do automatically).

Good Luck

You can buy any laptop HDD, we carry them at BB but youll have better luck with prices on Pricewatch.com... (i didnt say that)... And as for the 8mm you can bring it in whenever... It just depends on if you have a service plan or not and if its still in the manufatures(sp) warranty... If not its gonna cost... :(

DVD 305? Nice camera. Hope you don't do much editing though, the DVD cams aren't much fun to edit. Great for record and send. The 505 i think it is, the bigger one has some on-camera editing that's impressive. If you just need to cut out a section of you filming your foot, you'll be ok. :)

As for the HD, check pricewatch.com, i found this: http://www.memorylabs.net/podrcoexusb24.html It's a good deal on a 60gb with an enclosure (you can use the enclosure to pull data off the old drive).
