AUGUST 13 – Sunday – Midnight Madness – BEAT THE HEAT: RACE THE COPS

It has been the dream of many people to race against a police officer. For the first time in Michigan’s History, this dream will come true as cop cars with Beat the Heat Inc from all over the entire country will be driving to US131 Motorsports Park to take racing off the street and onto the strip. To make it even better, after 6 months of negotiations...in addition to the opportunity to race against police officers in there Beat the Heat cars, Michigan will become the second state in the country for civilians to race against ACTUAL ALLEGAN COUNTY SHERIFF POLICE CRUISERS driven by active police officers! Both bikes and cars will be able to run against either the cruisers or beat the heat cars.

Due to the high demand from students, teachers, and even past champions, US131 is also holding our High school drags during this day.

In addition to Beat the Heat and High School Drags, US131 will also be featuring a burnout out contest with the winner receiving $100 cash (no additional money to enter, although you must be racing), a 300+ mph Jet Car, and a 2000+ horsepower wheel stander.

This day will also have a gamblers race that anyone can enter (money payout - an additional $10 to enter, 80/20 split), Beat the Heat Inc. Bracket race (must be a member of beat the heat with a police replica car to run), and a test and tune that will be running throughout the day starting at 11:00am. We expect a decent amount of motorcycles and snowmobiles to come test and tune for the August 19&20 Bike mania/snowmobile race.

US131 is also coordinating its efforts with numerous local, county, state, and federal agencies to bring numerous static and interactive displays targeting everyone, from toddlers to adults.

To watch is only $5 and to race is $10...There is NO where in the country where you can pay $5 to see a 300mph+ Jet Car make passes on the track, just this alone is worth paying to see.

Including this event, we only have three more midnight madness events before the season is over. After this event, the next Midnight Madness is on Friday September 1st the theme of the night is the lightweight shootout. As with every themed event there will be three finals, in this case, one for the lightweight vehicles, one for general vehicles (any street car can run no matter the weight), and one for the bikes.

this was posted on my car club forum too. First thing I thought though... is it really going to be that much fun racing a bunch of 14 and 15 second cop cars?

well i had some fun there got a bit better at the launching, but i think im going to have to get myself a 1/4 turn throttle or something to bring up the 60ft times. zoltan stopped on down and pitted with me it was his first time out there he did pretty good and was constantly riding my ass down the track. i got my best time so far a 10.60. and i was the warm up show for the wheelie truck woo hoo, got the entire 1/4 mile on the back tire went through in 4th gear yeeeeeee hawwww. but i didnt get a time slip *&%^(% hehehe so took it out 2 other times pulling wheelies and i started from the lights on the tree and i ended up with a best time of 13.3 at 111mph on the back tire ahahahaha woo hooo the best police cruiser i think was in the 16 second range. that is the ones that were in actuall use hehe. i had a good time the jet car was impressive especially when your sitting back in the lanes waiting , it reeeked of a keroseen smell hehe and there was hela smoke. the jet car was done dragging i heard his time and i still couldnt see zoltan standing next to me hehehe. the officers there were all pretty nice none giving us the riot act or anything, and we found out that none of the allegan county cruisers have dash cameras   woo hoo.

all in all a very well ran show and i myself had a great time there ohh and freking great weather just a slight crosswind on the track which i had to do a bit of adjusting for during the high speed wheelies.
