Midnight Madness: Light Weight Shootout

Theme: Dedicated to light cars, this will be the definitive race proclaiming if the existing champion, Honda Civics, can hold onto its reign as the light weight champion or will an ever present light weight class of vehicles led by Turbo Eclipses and Neon SRT-4s overthrow the current champ?

As with every themed event there will be three finals, for this September 1st Midnight Madness there will be one for the lightweight vehicles, one for general vehicles (any street car can run no matter weight and size), and one for the bikes. Once again, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR WEIGHT WE WILL STILL HAVE A FINALS FOR YOU TO RUN IN!

As with every MM event, motorcycles will be allowed to stunt down the track and we will have the fastest wheelie competition.

Rules for the Lightweight shootout: Entry into the lightweight shootout is a maximum weight of 3200 pounds with driver. We will be starting the finals an hour earlier to accommodate the demand; 12am for the finals. Therefore the lanes will be shutting down around 11:30pm in preparation for the finals.
If time permits after the finals we will run in the test and tune format again.

Date: September 1, Friday
Schedule:
9pm-11:30pm open test and tune/grudge matches
12am-2am: The 3 separate Finals (Lightweight, General, Motorcycles)
Price: $5 to watch, $10 To Race

Bryan Harrison’s Resignation
To extinguish any rumors before they may start, this Friday will in fact be my last day with US131 Motorsports Park. The reason for my resignation is health related as I am going to NYC to seek medical diagnosis and treatment for a Transient Ischemic Attack (T.I.A. - mini stroke) and a blown blood vessel in my head that occured while Powerlifting back on May 1st (still suffer from constant episodes). Based on the outcome of the diagnosis and treatment will denote whether I will be able to move back to Michigan to work for US131 again. As I undergo diagnosis and treatment, my time will be dually spent on working with US131 in consulting postion as I help design the racing series’ and schedule for this upcoming season and also pursue a unique opportunity for my team to race in the NDRA Pro 4 cylinder class ( http://www.zerotogoneracing.com ). I will be retaining my US131 e-mail address ( bryan@us131motorsportspark.com ) and look forward to obtaining your constructive feedback in regards to what worked and did not work this year and what direction you would like the track to go towards, be it midnight madness, street car nationals, bracket series, etc.

Although I worked on all the different racing series at the track, as it pertains to the context of this email, Midnight Madness (MM); I would like to thank all of the racers and spectators for taking a struggling series and with your support, constructive comments, and help turn it into the premier street legal series in Michigan.

Very few people can understand let alone appreciate the strong passion for motorsports the street scene has. With most of the MM racers unable to afford an additional race car besides their daily drivers they’ll spend their whole pay check and run themselves into credit card debt to bolt on performance parts to quench their need for speed. With these same daily driven cars acting as a lifeline to the racer taking them to work, college, and the store they’ll also run it down the 1320. These same drivers race down the quarter mile fully aware that if something breaks on the track, which happens all too often, that their only source of transportation is gone, yet they still take the chance. These are the same people that will fuel the next generation of motorsports, no different than Christian Rado taking his daily driven 15 second Acura Integra and through “trial and breakageâ€

Brian, due to work conflicts I will not be able to attend the MM. That sucks, cause I enjoy those a lot.

Now, putting aside the squabbling we have done through the 'net, I hope that you get great treatment for the problem you have. It sucks to be unhealthy. Only wishing the best for your recovery and return to US131. 8)

Thank you for your kind words.

The WM riders have been a major group in the series and I greatly appreciate your support. For all those whom spoke to me at the races know that I always did what I could for you guys be it setting up races specifically for you, PA announcements, setting areas up for you on the club shootout and such...

Unfortunately the net isn’t the best place to debate anything besides who is the fastest keyboard racer. Lol.

The whole situation around Matt is a shame because we all lost, I wish there was something I could have done but it went to the General Manager level...and there is only so much I can say on forums, hence why i always recommend speaking to me on the phone or face to face.

Best of luck and keep riding.

i work 2nd shift so im out of the fun for that day also, i enjoyed all the fun at the beat the heat event and that you let me warm up the crowd for the wheelie truck (damn that truck is fast hehe). id love to hit this event to but i only have sat and sundays off.

like bike freak said all bickering aside, the one think i never like to hear is somebody who is suffering, i hope the best for you in beating this. i know from my own family with my mother having beaten cancer that you can do it, keep up the hope and try as hard as you can to do it. if you need anything let us here at the site know.

With some luck and medical competance I won’t become the 50% of people that suffer a TIA and within one year go into a full blown stroke. Given my age and previous health records the doctors are extremely perplexed as to how it happened and what it will take to stop it.

Thats awesome you mother beat it, i wish he the best of luck with it. I lost my father about a year and few days ago's from a similar disease. Just got to stay strong and postive.

On a brighter note, i'm not sure if you saw it but there was a guy on I believe a r6 that was racing a cop at the track. For some strange reason the guy on the bike got screwed up on the tree, the cop took off, he waited a couple of seconds then took off like a bat out of hell, as he approached the cop he pulled it up and rode the wheelie past the cop into the traps and still ran a faster time. Reminds me of a crazy russian friend Ivan in AZ...there wasnt anything this kid wouldnt do. Racing cars while performing a high chair in the middle of phoenix rush hour traffic, constantly flipping over in an attempt to do endo's in the front of the trade school, or his most extreme move yet, pulling a wheelie next to a cop before he took off... I have his stunt with the cops on digital film, if I can find it i'll post it on my site and link it off the forum. Unlike the race tracks our in Phoenix, we luckily have a track to take that stuff to now!

yep i saw him he didnt screw up at the light he did that on purpose he was giving the cop car a head start. i was there while they talked about racing each other, i offerd the cop to race him on just one wheel hehe, he laughed hehe and said for some reason i think im still going to lose. yea that bike was a 04 gsxr 1000 that the kid was running against the cop. yea that was a fun day, i almost whish i wasnt selling the bike i used to pull wheelies the 1/4 with. im not as good at them on my other bike that i was dragracing, i can get them going through 3rd but its alot harder being the 1100 is so much longer than the TLR is.

yea at least your telling people that you have the health problem, my mother stubborn as she is and that she didnt want us all rushing down to be with her, she didnt tell anybody but my dad and made him swear he wouldnt tell anybody either. she told me after she had the surgury to remove it. then she still had some follow ups but i think its been 3 to 5 years now since she had it. i think her strong will and stuborness helped her beat it hehe, well she is a red head.

well i hope to see you out at the track some time.
