Start small, how big are you? If you are over 220lbs, get a ninja 500 or an sv650. Busa for a first bike is not a very smart idea.

buy used for a first bike, because there are two kinds of riders. There are riders who have crashed, and those who are gonna crash. A used bike isn't so bad of a thing to scratch, or break. Get good gear for yourself, save money on the bike. Welcome to the site. 8)

I agree with starting in a smaller bike unless you have riding experiance, but just haven't had a bike on awhile.

Screw the the busa, get a 14! :thumbs :thumbs

Welcome to the site. I wouldn't recommend that big of a bike to start on. The penalty for falure is great! It really comes down to self control though. If you have that then maybe you could get one. I've seen it done before and work out just fine. Remember this, a motorcyclist is rarely at fault in accidents. Until you get used to riding like your invisible and develop your evasive manuvering skill's then your odds of not being able to avoid a accident are incresed.

yea get a smaller bike ride it for a year take a few rider schools at tracks and then decide if you want to make the jump to that big of a bike, or jump to something a bit bigger. because your talking about starting out on a bike that held the production bike speed record for many years ohh thats right it still does. i highly do NOT recomend starting with that kinda power. if it were up to me id have everybody start on a dirt bike, there you can crash your brains out and it normally doesnt hurt so bad  . ohh and by the best gear you can afford, min is helmet jacket gloves and boots.

welcome to the site and i hope to see you out there riding.

+1 to all.
I have an 07 Busa, but i have been riding for years. Started out on dirt bike when i was a kid and progressed to a cruiser, then bought a 94 suzuki RF900R ( which is about the equivaulent of a GSXR600 today ), Then a 2000 R1, Then the Busa. The Busa fits me the best because i am a big guy to. But if you dont have any riding experence, that bike will catch you off guard. It excellerates so quick, with all that torque, you could run right in the back of someone because you would close the distance to fast.
I really agree with godzuki. It would be great if all could start riding on dirt bike first. Thats were the skills are learned.

I agree with all of the above - i'm 205 and my little R6 does just fine. Although if your gonna do a cruiser prolly a 750 would be better but save the busa, zx-14 or R1 until you've got plenty of miles and OH Sh_t moments under your belt. The best riding gear you can afford is a must! Road rash hurts and lasts forever.
Whatever you decide ride safe and smart!

First and foremost, thank you all for welcoming me. Second of all, its sounds like everyone. well just about everyone agrees that I should start out small. I agree fully. No since on ruining my dream bike, Hayabusa, right out of the gate. But at the same time, I really dont want to look awkward on a small bike.

Prolly a 600 would do me just fine for the experience. And of course the best protection money can afford. Why skimp out on protection. If you dont cap that shit. . .

Im sure it wont be until next summer. But you will see me out there sooner or later. Catch yall later. Thank you once again.

Being a bigger guy if you are leaning towards a 600 i would look at getting either a Honda or a Suzuki, only because the bodies are a bit wider than the R6's or 636's. My R6 feels really slim to me when i ride it and im only 170lbs. I think you would prolly be a little more comfortable on one of the wider bikes, and if your worried about how you will look that may help also. Thats just my .02 though.
Welcome aboard. :hello
